Deborah was raised in Belgium, Wisconsin, and Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She now lives happily in Chicago, Illinois.

After attending Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, for two years, Deborah studied briefly in Russia. In order to gain perspective after that experience, Deborah took a few years off from her studies, but eventually enrolled at North Carolina State University. Deborah received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from that institution in 1997. To complete her formal education, Deborah attended law school at the University of North Carolina School of Law and is proud to have been honored with her Juris Doctor in May 2001.

Deborah is an associate in the bankruptcy practice at Macey & Aleman. Before she joined the firm in January 2003, Deborah was a staff attorney at the Indianapolis office of Indiana Legal Services, where she practiced consumer, family, and landlord-tenant law.
