All our St Louis bankruptcy attorneys have intensive experience in both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13. In addition to thoroughly understanding all the federal and state regulations, our bankruptcy attorneys also know how to use the Missouri bankruptcy property exemptions - the bankruptcy laws that prohibit creditors from touching your property.

Legal Helpers is the nation's largest and most sophisticated consumer bankruptcy practice. Our Missouri bankruptcy attorneys have helped thousands of clients' discharge millions of dollars of debt.

Low flat fees and payment plans

Unlike many other bankruptcy law firms, we offer you a choice of several different payment methods. Our low, flat fees allow you to pay through a flexible payment plan that suits your budget. You can stop paying your creditors immediately. We will take all your creditor calls so you do not have to deal with any more harassment. In Chapter 13 bankruptcies, most of your fees are paid, interest free, through your Chapter 13 repayment plan.

Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 - two choices in consumer bankruptcies

To qualify for a Chapter 7, debtors must have no significant equity built up in their property, very low income and a lot of unsecured credit card and/or medical debt. Debtors may continue to pay a mortgage or car loan and keep the house by signing a "reaffirmation agreement". The Chapter 7 process is relatively short - lasting about three and a half months from filing to discharge.

For you to qualify for Chapter 13, your income must be high enough so that after you pay for your basic human needs, you are likely to have money left over to make periodic (usually monthly) payments to the court for three to five years. The total amount you must pay will depend on how much you owe, the type of debts you have incurred and the court's attitude.

Legal Helpers' free 24-hour information line is always available to answer many of your questions, and our resource center offers in-depth information on various aspects of debt consolidation and current legislation that may affect you.
